Find out if itemizing beats the 2026 standard deduction. Applies the new $40,400 SALT cap and its phase-down, the 7.5% medical floor, and the new 0.5% floor on charitable gifts.
How this works: SALT cap per IRC 164(b)(6) as amended; charitable 0.5% floor per IRC 170(b)(1)(I); medical floor per IRC 213. The limit on itemized deductions for the 37% bracket is not included.

Estimate the new federal deduction for qualified tips (up to $25,000) and qualified overtime pay (up to $12,500, or $25,000 joint) for 2025 through 2028, and the tax it can save you.
How this works: IRC 224 and 225. Phase-out: $100 for each $1,000 of MAGI over $150,000 ($300,000 joint). A valid SSN is required, and married couples must file jointly. Tips must be from an occupation on the IRS list of tipped occupations.
Self-Employed & Small Business calculators
Self-Employment Tax Calculator
Calculate your 2026 self-employment tax (Social Security and Medicare) on freelance, 1099 or small business profit, and the deduction for half of it.

2026 Quarterly Estimated Tax Calculator
Find the smallest estimated tax payments that avoid the IRS underpayment penalty in 2026, using the 90% current-year and 100% or 110% prior-year safe harbors.

2026 Mileage Deduction Calculator
Calculate your 2026 mileage deduction. The IRS raised the business rate from 72.5 cents to 76 cents a mile on July 1, 2026, so this calculator splits your miles by date.
How this works: IRS Notice 2026-10 and Announcement 2026-11. Business: 72.5 cents (Jan to Jun), 76 cents (Jul to Dec). Medical and military moving: 20.5 cents, then 23.5 cents. Charity: 14 cents. Keep a mileage log.

How this works: Rev. Proc. 2013-13 and IRC 280A. The office must be used regularly and only for business. The regular method here does not include depreciation or the gross income limit.
Qualified Business Income (QBI) Deduction Calculator
Estimate your 2026 Section 199A deduction of up to 20% of qualified business income, with the 2026 income thresholds, the wage limit, the service-business (SSTB) rules and the new $400 minimum.

Caregivers & Medicaid Waiver calculators
Medicaid Waiver Payment (Difficulty of Care) Checker
Answer five questions to see if your Medicaid waiver payments may be excluded from income under IRS Notice 2014-7, and estimate the tax you may save.
How this works: IRS Notice 2014-7 and IRC 131. Limit: 10 people under 19, or 5 people age 19 or older. You can choose to count these payments as earned income for the Earned Income Credit and the refundable Child Tax Credit (Feigh v. Commissioner, IRS AOD 2020-02).
IRS Refund Deadline Calculator
Find the last day to claim a tax refund for a prior year, including amended returns to exclude Medicaid waiver payments. The IRS keeps refunds that are not claimed in time.
How this works: IRC 6511 and 7503. You must claim a refund within 3 years from the date you filed, or 2 years from the date you paid the tax, whichever is later. A return filed early counts as filed on the due date. Disaster postponements can extend these dates.

How this works: IRC 6651 and 6601. Failure to file: 5% a month, up to 25%. Failure to pay: 0.5% a month, up to 25%.
